Writing a novel is a creative process and like all creative processes, sometimes it’s hard to get started. StoryMill will be appreciated by the professional novel writer, but we really designed it for folks like you. With StoryMill, you can take your idea for mystery, romance, adventure, action or science fiction and turn it into that novel you know is within but just needs a little help getting out.
Features
Let’s take a peek inside
StoryMill is built so that you can develop your characters, locations and all the other elements of your story. You can set a daily writing goal and keep track of it using the Progress Meter. There are handy things to help you keep track of cliches and monitor how many times you use a word. There’s a place for all your research – add pictures, files and notes right into StoryMill – all in one place and available whenever you need it
Now, this is sweet!
StoryMill includes an industry-first feature – a Timeline View. You can now see the chronological order of the storylines in your novel regardless of the narrative order. In the Timeline View you can arrange your storylines, edit scenes and even add events and then see it all across time. Not sure about a scene? Don’t delete it – tag it – so you can review it later
Why do we call them Smart Views?
A Smart View acts like a filter and only shows items that match its search criteria. Smart Views are very similar to smart folders in the Finder and smart playlists in iTunes. Although you can create Smart Views based off a number of different pieces of data, using Smart Views together with tags is often the most efficient way to filter your items
Clean and Simple
One of StoryMIll’s best features is the Full Screen Mode, providing you with a clean, distraction-free writing landscape. No background apps, no menu bar – not even email – just you focusing on your novel. Pick any color background and any colortype – even determine your margins – either way, your eyes will thank you for it
